FEMALE ARTIST:
ESME CHAPMAN:
Our first choice female artist has agreed and confirmed that she will be able to commit to our shoot day and she has no commitments. She will get a blue card to ensure she is able to miss the Friday 20TH November. I am very happy that we got our first choice female role as she is the main focus of our video and has the exact look we want.
MALE ARTIST: ANGEL SANDELSON
We got our second choice male artist as our first choice was unavailable which is annoying because our first choice had the exact right look but we will work around it to make Angel look the best we can with hair and make up. Angel aswell as esme has confirmed he can do the shoot day Friday 20th November aswell.

Hair
Here are some simple hair styles that make our artist look edgy and interesting that we might choose for our female artist to have through out our video|: I like the simplicity of these pictures but also how they have a slight bit of difference to them which adds an interesting factor which makes you as a member of the audience interested in the artist|:
For the male artist we have decided to go with a very up and coming hair style:Again i like the simplicity but also the way it will make the features of our male artist stand out in an interesting way which is exactly the look we are going for:

Make up
For the three different sections of our video we want three different make up styles for the female artist:
WATER:
WOODS:
I like this simple an pure make up look to blend in with the natural surroundings of the woods as we don't want anything to heavy. I like the earthy colours used e.g brown eye shadow that brings out each girls eyes and is the same look we are going for. It is simple but beautiful.
For the UV theme:
I like the way the uv make up only makes certain features stand out for example the lips and eyelashes, it will also as previously mentioned be a good contrast to the two natural sets above (woods and water).
For the male artist we want something simple yet effective as he will have a blonde wig we want him to have white make up to e.g white mascara and white eyebrows, we feel this is edgy and is the look we are going for that will fit nicely with the female artist:

Costume- Male
For the male costume we are keeping it simple because he has quite full on hair and make up. We also want our male actor to look chic and smart to contrast with our females extravagant costume.
We want him to wear black straight cut trousers:
These our plain and simple yet chic and have an edgy look swell that we will feel will look right with our male actors look.
This is a white undershirt because i november filming outside will be cold. Again plain and simple.
This is a loose cotton shirt. We feel it is relaxed and fashionable but will give the edgy slightly ragged look and will link well with the blond hair and make up.
These plain black boots will complete the relaxed yet edgy look for the male and we are sticking to the colour theme of black and white because we feel that will work best with Esmes dress and the male make up/hair.

Costume - Female
For our music video the costume is a huge part. We want it to be the main focus for the audience as it links all the sets together. Our original idea is for Esme to wear like a tight strapless slip on the bottom and then get lots of different materials and wrap them around her so she is submerged in fabric. We can then adapt these different materials and use them in the set for example with the fishing wire moving them around like she is underwater, tying them to the tops of branches in the woods. The extra fabric should have a ragged look rather then just white flawy material that we have all seen before. It should look different and interesting which will tie in to both of our sets well with an edgy theme.
These are the sorts of materials that we want coming of our dress in these natural colours of beige, white, cream. However the strips need to be longer and thicker to be able to work with them on set but i like the way this skirt is structured.
Here is another similar skirt with longer material which i prefer however it i to yellow/beige i would want more whites in the colour scheme otherwise i don't think it will work with a water set and in the woods, the colours would fit at all but again i like the structure of the skirt the materials just need to be a lot longer.
This is Alexander Mcqueen a very famous dress designer and one of my personal favourites. I really like the way the fabric looks so thin but there are so many layers and it contrasts well to the tight dress shape. I think to get our dress looking like we want it to with all the layers but still flowy we need to build up the fabrics to create this thinking about which colours go where to get the best effect.
The way the girl is being submerged in fabric underwater is exactly the look we are trying to achieve which is what makes the dress so noticeable and such a main feature of the set. Even if it is only a few types of fabric to keep it relatively simple there has to be loads of it to achieve this look especially using the fishing wire in the studio we can do a lot with the dress to make her look underwater.

I like the way this net material hangs and flows out ward and i think we could start with this on the bottom layer of our dress to make the other materials look thicker and puff out slightly.
Although this dress is only made up of one fabric, i think its chic and elegant and maybe we should stick to only a few types instead of loads which could be to much. The flow of the dress fills the space really well which is what we want. This is Alexander Mcqueen a very famous dress designer and one of my personal favourites. Props
As our music video is more about how the costume and set blend together and compliment each other we wanted everything else to be as simple as possible therefore we don't have any extra props. We have focused alot on costume and make up but the two props we do need will contribute to that.
A ladder:
This is to help us reach the height we need at the top of the trees to be able to tie the fabric from the dress to the tops of branches and for the water element to tie to different heights in the studio so that our artist and her dress fills the whole space.
Invisible Fishing Wire: This is to tie to all sections of the material of the dress so that we can move her dress around behind the camera to exentuate it specifically to look like she is floating underwater.

Location /set design 2 WOODS
WHAT LOOK ARE YOU GOING FOR?
We want a very natural/ edgy scene so our artist can blend in well and it will contrast very well to the extravagant dress and then be a huge change in to the uv theme.
WHERE ARE YOU SHOOTING AND WHY?
We are shooting in the Peaslake woods because it is easy to get to from our first location which is at school in the studio, theres lots of space to work in and the trees are close together to again suspend the fabric on to to the tree branches with fishing wire to make the dress the main focus which is why we want the set to be natural and outdoorsy.
WHAT ISSUES DO YOU NEED TO CONSIDER?
The issues we need to consider are the weather and the natural lighting.
We can not control the weather and in november there is a possibility that it could rain which i would still like to film because there would be another natural theme involved however there could be a problem with the technical equipment and filming in the rain. The dress will have many layers so our artist will not be cold.
The lighting is an issue as we want it to be a sunny day with natural night streaming through like the picture above as when we filmed our rehearsal video 2 with Ashen and Esme the light streaming through the trees added the edgy theme that we want for our video so we will need to make sure we have the right power equipment to add extra lights just in case.

Location/set design 1.WATER
WHAT LOOK DO YOU WANT?
This is the sort of look we want plain and simple in the background but the dress is taking the attention away, however it still looks underwater from the water at the top and the light streaming in as well as the dress flowing in all directions.
WHERE ARE YOU SHOOTING AND WHY?
we are shooting in the studio which we have booked and has been organised, so we can create an underwater effect using lights as well as a fan to make it realistic as possible that she is underwater. We originally wanted to shoot underwater but we now know that would be to difficult as first it would look like a swimming pool and second the underwater cameras are to expensive to rent. We need a plain set for this idea to make the dress fully stand out and the fan will hopefully make the dress flow swell as using fishing wire that we will attach to the dress to make sure it moves properly. We will also have spotlights of light from above to create the look that sunlight is coming though the water.
WHAT ISSUES DO YOU NEED TO CONSIDER?
We need to consider that trying to create an underwater scene when our artist is not underwater is going to be difficult for example using the fishing wire to make the dress move like she is underwater, we need to test this out to make sure it works otherwise we won't have enough time to sort it out on filming day.

Rehersals
why have you done/organised a rehearsal?
We have organised a rehearsal to see weather our preferred actress and actor fit the part and look how we imagine them to look performing to the song in each location (woods + water) for example if either the female or male role did not perform confidently to the song then we would have to recast or if they did not have the look that we imagined that matched the theme of the song then again we would have to recast. Even though the male actor was unable to make the filming of our rehearsal we still have seen them perform and are happy that they will be good enough and Esme our first choice female character definitely fitted the part.
What has the process shown you need to develop and how are you going to do this?
The process has shown us the sort of frames and shots that we have in that particular location for example when esme was performing to the song we filmed her in a wide shot. The way we would develop the rehearsal stage and use it to help us on the filming day would be to make sure that she is filling the whole frame most of the time so that there is not to much empty space behind her.

Rehearsal 2
After having done the Rehearsal as a group filmed in the studio we needed to film in our other location which is the woods as we wanted to see if our real choices e.g. esme, Anjuly, Alfie, Angel could do something similar having watched it in the real setting to see how the choreography looked when they did it for real. Unfortunately none of the boys were available to do this however we used Ashen (male) someone that could be a 3rd choice if the others aren't able to and Esme who is our first choice anyway. We went down to the woods showed them the rehearsal video as a guideline and played the song:
Here is the video: Esme (1st choice) had great freestyle movement that was exactly the way we wanted our female to look especially as it was in the real location. She was confident, easy to work with and fitted very well in the set and themes of the song. Ashen also performed very well and is a third choice incase the other boys can not do it as we just needed to see what it look like for possible choices to be dancing to the song in the real location and it was a great success we were very happy and the choice of setting with the light coming through the trees was a huge bonus which has given us more ideas for our real filming day.

Rehearsal 1
My group and i went to the studio and filmed a practice audition tape for our choices for the roles within the music video. We played the song and I did some rough choreography using the kind of free style movement we want in our video so that first of all we could show the people we were auditioning and secondly see what the movement looked like in slow motion matching the song. Unfortunately we couldn't get this slow mo video to match the beat of the song because the software we were happy with the moment as in slow motion my arms moved in a way that in each setting will work well with the flowy dress emphasising it. Below is the video
